Empty Train Waltz

“Empty Train Waltz” was inspired by a dream of an old couple dancing in an empty train. Over the backdrop of various old landscape paintings from the public archive, this multimedia collaboration captures the essence of “Empty Train Waltz” and brings it visually to life.

Jia Ying Lim, Kris Ong (SG)
Lim Jia Ying is an illustrator and animator based in Singapore. Her graduation film “Watermelon Please” won Singapore Best Student Animation at Cartoons Underground and was screened at festivals including Singapore International Film Festival and Monstra Lisbon Animation Festival.

Kris Ong is a Singaporean writer and director. She has over 6 years of experience in story and script development. Kris has written script coverage for an international variety of scripts, short stories as well as novels. She is the co-writer of the feature film “Ajoomma”, to be directed by He Shuming (SEAFIC Award Winner 2018, IFFAM Co Production Award). As a director, her short films and music videos have collectively been screened in over 30 film festivals and platforms such as MTV Asia. Her latest short film “Sunday” had its world premiere at the Palm Springs International ShortFest in 2019.
